On September 5th, 2014, in the ASEAN Student Chinese Culture Contest held in Guizhou Normal College, the ASEAN students at Guizhou University amused the audience and brought them laughter.

The contest on Chinese culture for students from ASEAN countries, as a part of the China-ASEAN Youth Culture & Sports Festival, was one of activities of The China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week. ASEAN Students who came from 10 colleges and universities performed with their understanding the traditional Chinese folk opera, Chinese Songs, Chinese Ethnic Dances, Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Kungfu in a unique way.

Through fierce competition, Guizhou University and Honghe University won the first prize with the total score of 405. Kuming University of Science and Technology, Zunyi Normal College and Guiyang Vocational and Technical College won the second prize. Guangxi Medical University, Tongren Polytechnic College, Guizhou Minzu University, Yunnan Agricultural University and Tongren University were awarded the third prize.

Since 2012, Guizhou Normal College has successfully held activities for two sessions of China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week. This year, Guizhou Normal College undertakes two activities of the 7th China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week. With this platform, Guizhou Normal College established partnership with universities and education institutions in Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia, a good foundation for further exchanges and cooperation.

ASEAN Student Chinese Culture Contest aims to help young ASEAN students to understand China in culture, mind and emotions, to find something in common with their own culture, and thus to enhance mutual trust and friendship. This contest also serves as a stage for students to show their Chinese language proficiency and as a platform for reciprocal learning and exchanges. At the same time, the activity sets up an exchange platform for the teaching and learning of Chinese among foreign colleges and universities, especially in ASEAN countries.
